When you lifted the front of the truck you increased wind resistance. To increase your miles per gallon you will need to lower the wind resistance or decrease the amount of work the motor must do to move the truck. Either a CAI or an exhaust upgrade may be helpful but the biggest difference will be in how you use the accelerator pedal. cheapest fix to help is to increase air in tires to maximum stated on sidewall, but this will degrade the ride drastically.
References :
20+ years in auto repair field

putting that junk type air filter in is probably the reason for the loss of mileage/these new systems are too precise to fool with/the new ecm systems dont like to be altered and as you go on it will only get worse/the engine /intake/and the exhaust is all figured in/extra cold air introduced will cause system to use more gas/changing the exhaust will reduce some back pressure and change exhaust flow across 02 sensor/02 is the final run on the fuel injection and the computer will try more fuel to compensate/you are going to damage the warranty/mess up the gas mileage and spend money for nothing///
References :
Hate to say it, even if you did both, it wouldn't be a huge difference compared to the loss you have incurred. You would be better off driving a little bit slower, that will probably give you the biggest difference.

To do anything to return your mileage other than adjusting your driving habits would really amount to a waste of money.
References :
The lift is what caused your mileage decrease as it put your truck up into the air stream more and increased the drag coefficient. Intake and exhaust mods are not going to make up that loss. You'll spend a bunch of money and get very little return.
References :
Been repairing and restoring cars for over 50 years.

Which gives you a better MPG gain: Cold air intake or Exhaust upgrade?
I have a 2010 Nissan Titan SE V8 5.6L that I recently put a 2” lift and level kit on. After doing that I noticed that my gas mileage went from around 16 average to 13.5 average (city). I am looking to do a performance upgrade that will help return my MPG to 16 or higher. My question is will I get a greater MPG gain from installing a Cold Air Intake or would it be better to upgrade my exhaust. I currently have a drop in K&N filter in my stock air box. I am only looking at spending between $200-$300 and can only do one of the upgrades now and the other will be done at a later date.

If I do the cold air intake I am leaning toward the K&N because all the reviews I have read seem that they make the best. Will a cold air intake give me even more of an increase in my MPG over the K&N drop in filter alone?

If I do the exhaust I have talked to a local Truck Custom shop that can do it. My truck came with standard 2 ½” pipes and a 2 to 1 muffler leading to a 3” tip. Talking to the guys at the shop they said that upgrading to 3” pipes would’t make that big of a difference if any at all, and they told me that he can swap out my muffler to a straight through muffler for around $150 installed. I would like to go to a true dual exhaust and was wondering if it would be better to do a 2 to 2 muffler (if they even make that) or just doing two 1 to 1 mufflers or if anyone else know a better way to do it for less than $300.

Or if anyone knows of any other ways that I can get an increase of 2 or more MPG for less than $300 or can give me pointers of things to look for when buying a cold air intake or while talking to the mechanic about my exhaust like things to look for or stay away from. Thank you in advance for any advice you might be able to offer.
I understand that the lift caused the decrease initially. And to the guy that said putting in the junk type air filter is what caused it you need to do your research better. This is the third vehicle I have put K&N in and each time I have improved 1-3 MPG and when I put it in this truck it increased 1.8 and stayed steady ever sense.

Everything that I have found online and talking to people that has done the mods said that they have gotten a slight increase from doing either the cold air intake or the exhaust or both. I have not seen anyone that has don’t either mod correctly that saw a loss of MPG (except those that has a loss to do being heavier on the gas pedal because of the increase performance haha)
